MUNDO COOPERANTE, a Spanish organization based in, Madrid, Spain their working jointly on supporting Maasai women on bracelets making.
MUNDO COOPERANTE is a non-profit organization established in 1998 that aims for development cooperation projects in third countries and focuses its work on the support and promotion of children and women in situations of serious vulnerability and NAFGEM is a Tanzanian CBO specialized in the fight against Female Genital Mutilation and Early Marriages in the regions of Kilimanjaro and Manyara. Both parties agree to establish a cooperation agreement in order to work together in a productive program that affects directly in reducing FGM among the Maasai community, in the regions of Kilimanjaro and Manyara.
The beneficiaries of this program are women from the Maasai tribe that acquire and express an open and specific commitment to oppose FGM.
Those women under one or more of the following conditions will have special priority to get involved and benefit from this program:
- Women that having gone through FGM themselves are opposing and avoiding that their daughters suffer FGM.
- Women who have practiced FGM as circumcisers and have abandoned the practice or have the will to do so.
- Young women who have fled to escape from FGM.
Commercialization of the products will supervised by MUNDO COOPERANTE who is responsible for the global marketing of the Maasai Bracelets against FGM. In order to make it possible MUNDO COOPERANTE established a website called Maasai Bracelets which helps to increase global market.
